Skin with blemishes, pigmentation issues, or an uneven texture can make you appear older. It can be frustrating to try different topical solutions and not manage to get rid of the skin imperfections that worry you. Fortunately, there are many effective options to achieve clearer, more radiant skin.
At Radiant Divine Medical Spa, we offer chemical peels to help you achieve the kind of skin that you want. Learn more about what a chemical peel is and the many options we offer.
What Is a Chemical Peel?
A chemical peel is a non-surgical procedure that utilizes a chemical solution to remove the top layer of your skin. This brings younger, undamaged skin to the surface. When we apply the chemical solution to your skin, it causes changes to your skin’s surface that jump-start your body’s collagen production.
Your body naturally produces collagen and elastin, two proteins that are crucial for keeping your skin smooth and firm. After your 20s, the production levels of these proteins decrease, making your skin less firm and more prone to developing wrinkles and other signs of aging.
By boosting collagen production, chemical peels make it easier for healthier and firmer skin layers to grow in place of the damaged layer.
Chemical peels have many skin rejuvenation purposes. They can help with:
- Fine lines and wrinkles
- Certain types of acne
- Certain types of scarring
- Sun spots
- Liver spots
- Freckles
- Uneven skin coloring
- Dull skin
- Scaly patches
- Melasma
A chemical peel can range from superficial to deep. Superficial peels use milder acids, like hydroxy acids, and they only penetrate the top skin layer. A medium peel can use glycolic or trichloroacetic acid to reach the outer and middle layers, while deep chemical peels often use phenolic acids to reach deep into the layers of skin.
Chemical peels are appropriate for people of most skin types, but some types of peels will not be appropriate if you have very dark skin. You are not a good candidate if you have a history of scarring, take medications that make your skin more sensitive, or don’t have time to recover.
Chemical Peel Benefits
There are many chemical peel benefits, making this option one of the most popular skin rejuvenation treatments.
Chemical peels can make your skin more sensitive, allowing your regular skin care products to be more effective than normal. Peels make it possible for the serums and lotions you use to reach deeper skin layers.
It is also possible to customize chemical peels to address specific skin concerns. Once we assess which skin issues you want to deal with, we can put together a treatment plan that targets each problem.
Chemical peels are also one of the only effective methods of diminishing skin pigmentation issues.

The Chemical Peel Procedure
Before choosing a chemical peel, you need to schedule a consultation with us. We will assess your treatment areas to see what kind of chemical peel can benefit you the most. Come to your consultation prepared to give us your full medical history and a list of the medications and supplements you take.
To prepare for a chemical peel, you need to avoid anything that makes your skin more sensitive. This can include other cosmetic procedures.
You should also avoid all types of exfoliation, stay away from the sun and tanning beds, and refrain from wearing makeup in the days leading up to the treatment. It is also a good idea to keep your body as hydrated as possible.
On the day of the procedure, make sure to come to the appointment without makeup and without having applied any lotions or creams on your skin.
We will tie your hair back and give you protective eyewear before we begin. For some chemical peels, we may offer a topical anesthetic.
Depending on the type of peel you choose, you may be able to apply makeup right after the procedure, or you may have to wait a day or two. We will give you full recovery guidelines to follow.
