Sagging skin is one of the main reasons people turn to facelifts. As you age, your skin loses elasticity and collagen, causing it to droop and creating creases, wrinkles, and fine lines. For years, people have chosen to undergo surgical procedures like facelifts to help combat these signs of aging, but now there is another option.
Ultherapy is a non-invasive lift that offers skin tightening and wrinkle reduction. If you want to slow down the signs of aging without surgical procedures, read on to learn what Ultherapy skin tightening is and what it can offer.
Ultherapy Skin Tightening: What It Is
Ultherapy is a non-surgical and non-invasive cosmetic procedure that can provide a lift to the skin on your face, neck, and brows. It is the only FDA-approved outpatient treatment of its kind that can help diminish the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines.
This skin tightening treatment uses focused ultrasound waves to reach the deeper layers of your skin, jump-starting your own body’s collagen production.
Collagen is a protein that keeps your skin hydrated and looking firm, but it is one that the body produces less of with age. The pulsating energy of Ultherapy stimulates collagen production by heating the skin gently.
At Radiant Divine Medical Spa, we also use ultrasound imaging, which allows us to see beneath the layers of skin to find where the treatment can have the most positive effect.
The energy from the applicator can reach three different layers, including muscles, skin, and superficial wrinkles. Unlike lasers, which work from the outside in, this non-invasive lift bypasses the skin’s surface to reach the tissues that create collagen and elastin.
We offer Ultherapy to treat the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles in locations like:
- Under the chin
- Chest area
- Around the eyes
The ideal candidate for a non-invasive lift like Ultherapy is someone who still has some skin elasticity. Women and men with mild to moderate loose skin and wrinkles can benefit from the procedure. It is recommended for all skin types.
Since collagen production starts slowing down in your late 20s, people in that age range can also benefit from this treatment. Although signs of aging may not be visible yet, you can stave off what causes them by turning to Ultherapy. Most of our patients are in their 30s and 40s, when the first signs of aging usually appear.
If you are over 50, have excessive skin laxity, or have severe sun damage, we can work together to find a more effective treatment option.
Benefits of Ultherapy Skin Tightening
With Ultherapy, you don’t have to worry about downtime. With a surgical facelift, you would have to take time off from work and your regular activities, but that is not necessary with Ultherapy.
This procedure also does not require multiple sessions to produce the results you want. Since the ultrasound waves help your body produce collagen, the results can continue for months after your session.
How to Prepare for Ultherapy
If you think this treatment option is a good match, it’s time to schedule your appointment with our experts. We will ask you about your goals and your skincare routine, and we will assess your skin to ensure that Ultherapy is the best treatment option for you.
We suggest you stay out of direct sun three to five days before your appointment and stop using products with glycolic acid, retinol, and salicylic acid.
The Day of Treatment
Arrive at our spa in loose, comfortable clothing and with a clean face. We will cleanse the treatment areas and apply the ultrasound gel before placing the applicator on your skin. Before we begin treatment, we will use ultrasound imaging to see the exact locations where the energy can provide the most benefits.
The procedure’s duration can vary depending on the area we are treating. Face and neck sessions can take anywhere from 60 to 90 minutes, while treatment in the chest can take as little as 30 minutes.
Once we finish the procedure, you can return to your day.
Since there is no downtime, there are no limits to your regular activities or routine. We do recommend you wear sunscreen on the treated area.
When you start seeing results will depend on your body’s collagen production. Some people start seeing a change in two or three weeks, while the process can take a bit longer for others. Your aging process will dictate how long it takes for new collagen to affect your skin. The improvements will continue for up to six months.
How long the results last will also depend on your own collagen production levels. It is common for results to last as long as two years.
Most people require only one session, but if you have substantial skin laxity, you can benefit from a second session.
To help maintain results, take steps to protect your skin from UV damage by always wearing sunscreen and avoiding tanning beds. If you smoke, you can help improve your collagen production by quitting.
Turn to Ultherapy for a Non-Surgical Lift
If your skin is sagging or if you see wrinkles and fine lines but do not want to turn to invasive surgical procedures like facelifts, Ultherapy can offer results that look and feel natural. Because it uses your own collagen production system, you can enjoy the benefits of this skin tightening treatment for up to two years.
