It is also a good idea to avoid excessively salty foods in the days leading up to the injections. Furthermore, you don’t want to tweeze, wax, or use any abrasive products on the treatment areas, because all of these things can make your skin more sensitive. At least 24 hours before the injections, stop drinking alcohol.
Procedure and Recovery
Come to your appointment without wearing makeup, lotions, or creams. We will wash your face to remove impurities and then begin the injection process. Remember that you can always ask for a topical anesthetic before we start.
Once we finish, you are free to return to your life, virtually without downtime.
As you recover on the first day, you can apply ice packs, as needed. Avoid sun exposure as well as any other activities that raise your core body temperature. You may also want to avoid taking blood-thinning medications for a few more days.
How long does Restylane last? It depends on the type of Restylane and on where we inject it. In areas like your lips, which move a lot, the filler generally lasts a shorter period of time than in areas where there’s less movement. Typically, Restylane lasts from four months up to a year.
